Saturday 13th November – walk **** – Nacton Shore circuit – mainly
cloudy with some light rain.
Another grey gloomy day here in Felixstowe, morning at home doing exercises
while Mag did a spot of gardening, then after dinner I decided to take Mag
on a surprise trip out. We just got in the van as the rain started but we
went anyway ending up at the top car park at Nacton Shores. Autumn has
arrived here in Suffolk with the trees turning some lovely colours. We
walked down through the woods to the River Orwell with the tide very low as
we turned left taking the top path through the tree with great views down
to the river, so quiet and peaceful:) At the large field at the end of the
woods we spotted some deer and decided to continue along the wooden
boardwalk through the reeds with Levington up above us and yet more deer in
the recently cut grass! Then back along Levington Creek with a few birds in
the mud making it back to the river and with the tide now coming in there
were loads of birds feeding on the tide line including several noisy
curlews and egrets! We walked back along the beach which is harder on the
legs in the sand and shingle. We even got a few glimpses of sun with some
top clouds too. We were knackered by the time we reached the van having
cover 3.37 miles, the cold is taking it toll still! Back home for a cuppa
and cake, watching Ireland beat the All Blacks at Rugby, top game too:)
